Holy Trinity Orthodox Church

Diocese of Mexico

Guanajuato, GTO, Mexico

We Welcome You!

Holy Trinity Orthodox Church is the first Orthodox Church to be established in the city of Guanajuato. Established as a mission in 2021, it is now a small chapel located in the hillside overlooking beauty of the city. This church plant was developed to anchor the Orthodox Church in the heart of the Mexican State of Guanajuato. This parish has become the central hub for all of the existing parish’s within the deanery, including those founded in Colima, Guadalajara, Michoacan, and Leon.

The Ancient Church located in an historical location.

It seems appropriate that the oldest Christian Church in the world should find its way into one of the best historical preserved cities in Mexico. Guanajuato, which is home to approximately 200,000 people, is both a snap shot of an era caught in time and the confluence of modernity. Founded in the 16th century, due to the rich silver deposits, which were discovered in the mountains that surround this city, Guanajuato has survived the revolution and the test of time.

The Cupola

Although the origins of the Russian “onion dome” are not too clear, it is believed that the prominence of it within the architecture of the Church symbolizes the eternal candle flame, which burns and shines the Light of Jesus Christ.

Beauty Retained

Just as God’s creation retains it beauty and natural order, the Holy Orthodox Church eternally presents this same beauty and order in its liturgical services.

Not all paths are edifying and only one path leads to eternal life. The Orthodox Church is here to ensure that you remain on the right path.
